This Doctoral Training Program (DTP) is the central training component of the MCLS, the Munich Center of the Learning Sciences. Main goals of the DTP include to make methods and skills of the participating disciplines accessible to the doctoral students and to support them in designing and conducting state-of-the-art dissertation research projects, to ensure the quality of the doctoral research in the context of the MCLS by systematically offering advice and support, and to integrate the doctoral students into the relevant scientific communities.
The DTP will contribute to a substantial advancement of the scientific knowledge on learning and on the research methodologies in the Learning Sciences directly, due to its interdisciplinary research approach. In addition, as a more indirect effect of the program, we expect the improvement of research via better qualification of young researchers, especially with respect to methodology, but also with respect to being able to appreciate and to understand research on learning in different disciplines. Being an international program, it is also expected to foster the international visibility and the international network of research in the Learning Sciences.
