Educational knowledge and the acquisition of professional professional competence among student teachers - the
BilWiss project

Abstract

In the BilWiss project, it was first determined what content is taught in the educational science components of the teacher training program in NRW. On the basis of this inventory, a test was developed to be able to record educational science knowledge. This test was validated in a series of studies. In addition, a longitudinal study was conducted to examine the influence of the knowledge of educational science acquired in the course of study on professional probation as a teacher. The presentation will introduce the BilWiss research program and describe the development and refinement of the BilWiss test. In addition, selected results on the validity and level of educational science knowledge as well as on its longitudinally recorded usefulness when entering the profession will be reported.
