MCLS-Doctoral Program “Scientific Reasoning and Argumentation” is funded!

The Elite Network of Bavaria is funding the international doctoral program “Scientific Reasoning and Argumentation” of the MCLS. The program focuses on interdisciplinary and collaborative research linking psychology, education as well as empirical research on learning in specific domains (e.g. medical education, mathematics educations or biology education). The prospective doctoral candidates will investigate several aspects related to scientific reasoning and argumentation, e.g. how children and adults process scientific evidence in different disciplines as well as the effectiveness of different instructional interventions aiming at an improvement of scientific reasoning and argumentation. The overall goal is to improve the knowledge base on how to best facilitate learning in mathematics and natural sciences in schools and in continuing education.

The Doctoral Program is a structured, interdisciplinary and international program. Involved researchers have a broad international network which they use to support the doctoral candidates of the program.
